The worst christmas ever!
Poor itty bitty fell yesterday and hit his eyebrow on the ceramic toilet paper holder in our bathroom yesterday. He had a huge bump on his eyebrow and a small one under his eye. The bump went away within thirty minutes or so. And ev was acting fine. He got up around 4:30 this morning and crawled in bed with us. Since he switched to the toddler bed this isn't unusual. I had started having lots of contractions last night and we almost went to the hospital. They quit after about an hour and a half. Anyway when ev came in went back to sleep but I started feeling pretty awful. I got up at five and took a hot shower and came back to bed. Ev woke up at some point and cried for a little bit and made some funny noises and went back to sleep. I started having contractions around six or so and woke ray up to time them. Ev woke up about 6:45. So we decided to go downstairs and get Christmas started. Ray went to let the dogs out and fell and slid on his butt halfway down the stairs while holding Evan. Evan was fine but pretty scared and started crying and then threw up. He'd eaten a whole orange with dinner the night before and we figured it was just irritating his stomach. We went upstairs to change ev and noticed that he had thrown up a little in his bed. He was still running around and acting normal. During Christmas I was having contractions and felt really nauseous. When all the presents were unwrapped we went back up to let ev play and watch tv. He did fine until about 10 am. He normally takes a nap at noon but he went and laid with ray for a little bit and was trying to sleep. He came and crawled up with me and snuggled in and fell asleep. This is very unusual because he usually runs around until nap time. After about twenty minutes he threw up all over me. Ray took him and before we could get to the bathroom to clean up, he threw up on ray. We changed him and headed to the hospital to make sure he didn't have a concussion. We were there from about 11 am-4 pm. Evan was really out of it and extremely lethargic. Not to long after we got there I got really light headed and felt like passing out. They made up the bed next to Evan and had me lay down. I got a granola bar and they brought me lots of juice. I need up laying in the bed most of the time we were there. Poor ray was pretty much on parent duty the whole time. I was still have contractions and every time he had to get up and down his tailbone hurt really bad. They took ev to get a ct scan. It came back fine. They determined that he probably has a bug maybe bacterial. We get the results back tomorrow. They gave him two IVs. It took 45 min of the first one before he started acting a little more normal. By the second one he was sitting up and drinking juice on his own and feeling a lit better. They gave him antibiotics through his IV and finally said he was ok enough to go. He's doing better and was on a juice diet until tomorrow and then only bland food. And then a follow up on Monday to make sure he's doing better. Although my father or mother-in-law is going to have to take him. We're scheduled to be induced Monday morning. And the way I've been feeling all day, I'm not sure Grace is going to wait till then. Anyway we're exhausted and finally going to bed.

So my monitoring took like an hour today. They said she needed to perk up a bit and gave me juice and cookies. She started moving around a lot after I moved to my left side. They were having trouble determining her base line. So I had to stay longer. Then they did the ultrasound. She said I have more fluid then last week which is good. And she was moving good. So they let me go to the dr. During my doctor apt she said i've gone from nothing to being 1 cm and 50% effaced. Ray doesn't think I'm going to hold out for another week. Well see. Hopefully she'll hold out till after Christmas.

Evan is saying lots of words now. He says careful, bird, lights, tv, shirt, hulk, button, socks, bed, bedtime, night night, drink, milk, clock, yucky, two, sometimes three, rock for rocking in the chair, juice, Uh oh, dog, cat, nose, eyes, hi, wow, and tree. And apparently even though we have trouble getting his new boots on, he doesn't. I looked down and he had one on. Five minutes later he had the other one on.

Well today's dr. apt took forever. We had an eye dr. apt this morning and then a ck up with the OB. I told her grace didn't seem to be moving as strong the last day or so. She ckd me and said she wasn't sure if it was the head she felt or not. So she sent us to perenatal at the hospital to monitor grace. The hooked up two monitors. One was for the heart beat and one was for contractions. They gave me a button to push when I felt her move. Then we sat and waited for twenty minutes. She moved a decent amount and the lady said everything looked great with the stress test. So the next part of the test was an ultrasound. They look for her to roll over three times, practice breathing, and stick out an arm or leg. She must have gotten comfortable though because she wasn't moving a whole lot. I switched sides a couple of times to see if she'd move more. She finally did. The tech said everything looked really good. She said that grace had switched positions and that she was sitting under the placenta. She said that's probably why her movements didn't seem as forceful because now there was a cushion. She called dr. Marcrander to see if she wanted me to come back next week. She said she did. So I go in to do another stress test Tuesday morning and see my OB for the last time before the induction.

We bought Evan his first pair of snow bibs and he got new spiderman snow boots that light up. After his nap we took him outside. He loved it. He picked up sticks and played in the snow. He fell over a few times and ray laid down beside him and made snow angels. Right before we got ready to go in, Evan laid down on the ground by himself. It was a really fun time. Kids make everything more fun. Afterwards we came in and drank hot chocolate.

Oh I forgot to mention, when we left this morning for the doctor we got a few blocks away and noticed the tire on the van was completely flat. We turned around and switched to ray's car to go to the doctor. When we got back ray put the spare on and we took it down the street to the tire place. We ended up buying two new tires for it. At least we won't have to worry about another bad tire.

We had the ultrasound this morning. Grace is doing great. She's right where she's supposed to be. She measuring about 6-7 lbs. So she won't be quite as big as Evan was but she should be in the 8 lbs range by the time we're induced. I'm still not dilated but we have like 3 wks left. We didn't get any good facial pictures because she was pressed into my uterus. But the tech did say she has some hair already. We go back next week for another ck up. Maybe I'll have more to report then.

So Evan is sleeping in his big boy bed for the first time. He's been crying when we put him down the last couple of nights and ray had to hold him till he was asleep and then put him down. Last night ray tried to put him down and Evan started trying to climb out of the crib. So ray had to get up and pick him up and hold him again. So this morning ray moved the toddler bed in. He put the crib behind the bed. Evan immediately climbed over the headboard of the toddler bed and into the crib and then tried to climb back out again. So ray took the crib apart and put it back together in Grace's room. So I tried to put ev down for a nap. As soon as I put him in the toddler bed he actually laid there for a bit. I walked out and stood by the door. Within a couple of minutes a little hand reached through the door and tried to get out. I put him back in bed and sat on the floor beside his bed. He immediately stood up, grabbed his giraffe and blanket and climbed down and sat in my lap. So I picked him up and sat with him in the rocking chair. I waited a few minutes till he settled down. I held him a few more minutes and then took him over to the bed. When I laid him down he opened his eyes a few times. I walked out and stood by the door and listened. He didn't get out of bed and he's been sleeping for about an hour in his new bed. I'm not sure holding him till he's really sleepy is the best plan but we think he needs to get used to the idea that he sleeps in that bed. We'll see how it goes.
