Stay tuned!

I think Evan is going to be walking very soon! We went for a walk with
Dorothy, David, and Christopher. When we got back I let Evan play for
a little bit before his nap. He was standing by the couch and I was
acrossed the room. All of the sudden he let go and took two little
steps towards me! We have been practicing where I sit in the floor in
front if him and I stand him up. When I let go he usually lunges at me
but last night he took a couple of steps. But I didn't think he'd be
brave enough to do it on his own already.

Colds, blood, and birthdays

So Evan's one year ck up isn't until tomorrow but I had to take him in
on Monday because he was all congested and waking up during the night.
He'd had a runny nose but his tooth was coming in so I figured that's
what it was. Ray and I turned up sick Saturday and Sunday and by
Sunday night we felt pretty crapy. We had sore throats and congestion
and my ears and Ray's teeth hurt. So we figured if he felt like us
that he needed to see the doctor. She said he had a cold and an ear
infection. He's on amoxicillin again for 10 days. He's still a little
congested but he slept through the night last night. We're almost over
our colds too. So everybody should be about back to normal by party
time.

Evan weighs 26 lbs now. He'll get measured tomorrow and more shots. He
usually does fine though, maybe a little sleepy afterwards.

He had a little accident on Sunday. Will was visiting and Evan was
walking along the coffe table in between him and Ray. He fell and
starting crying. Will picked him up and handed him to me. I hugged him
while he cried on my shoulder. He settled down a little and I pulled
him away from my shoulder. When I did we saw he had a bloody mouth. It
was coming out of both sides if his mouth. We figured he must have bit
his tounge. We cleaned him up and the blood stopped pretty quick. We
didn't see anything on his tongue so I said he might have bumped the
tooth coming in. I had the pediatrician take a look and she said
everything looked okay. Although he was cranky this afternoon after
his nap and I saw a little blood around his new tooth. It was gone
when I looked a little later. I don't know if it was because of the
other day or if it was from it moving down. I swear it was bigger
after the nap than before he went down.

Evan's birthday was good. Not too eventful. I sang to him at
breakfast. He looked at me like I was a little crazy. I gave him a
blueberry donut since it was his b-day. He seemed to enjoy it. My mom
and Ray's mom sang to him in the morning. And Ray sang to him and
played with him a little before he left for work. Ev and I spent the
rest of the day cleaning and grocery shopping. Ray came home and he
and Ev played and split another donut. Then I made him a cheese
quesedilla for dinner. Aunt Lindsay and cousin Piper sang to him
during dinner. He played a little and then went to bed. Dan and Sarah texted. Aunt Katie and
uncle Will called to wish him a happy birthday before we went to bed.

Ugh, who knows...

I know I sound like a broken record. Evan is having trouble sleeping.
Luckily he is still sleeping through the night. However he doesn't
seem to want to go to sleep in the first place. Every since the time
change he has been fighting us.
I don't know if he needs less naps or if it's his teeth or what. He
has four in now. But you can see that many more are making their way
down. He also had a pretty runny nose all day. So either that's
related to his teeth or he's getting a cold. Hopefully not though. We
want him healthy for his party. Anyway, he seems to have stages. I'm
sure this will pass.

It's official; Evan has three teeth and he's the sweetest baby ever!

So Evan's third tooth broke through tonight. It's his first one on the
top, on the left side. The one beside it is almost through as well and
today while he was fighting being strapped into the car seat I saw
that he has a third one on the top working it's way through as well.
These top teeth have taken for ever though. Ray and I have been
watching them for weeks. He'll have a mouthful of teeth before we know
it though. He's growing and changing so fast lately.

Tonight around seven I was sitting on the floor and Evan crawled over
and got in my lap and started cuddling up and doing his snuggling
routine like when we are trying to put him down for the night. It was
so sweet that I had a hard time getting up and changing him into
jammies so he could sleep in his bed. I'm also cuddle deprived because
he's been pushing away when we rock him for the couple of minutes
before we put him in his crib. So we get like thirty seconds before
he squirms so much we have to give up. I told Ray Evan must be making
up for the two weeks of pushing. (I know this is a really good thing.
He's indepent when it comes to going to sleep. However, as a mommy of
a 1 yr old, I can say that he's growing up too fast. What will it be
like when he's five.)

Also one other thing that has occurred while trying to write this
post, Ray, Evan, and I are booked for our first family vacation! Ray
is the best man in Dan's wedding this summer in California. We are
taking the train to Flagstaff, Arizona. We're spending a couple of
nights while seeing the Grand Canyon. Then we're driving the rest of
the way to the wedding. We'll head back on the train. Now I know what
you're thinking. It is the longest possible way to get to California.
However, we decided it was the best way for Ray (he's slightly afraid
to fly) and Evan (he doesn't want to sit in a car seat or on
someone's lap for hours). We're hoping this way is the least
stressful. Although we've never traveled with a 1 year old for more
than a couple of hours before. Wish us luck. We might need it.

I have the courage to stand alone!
