More news on Evan: So we had the ultrasound today to make sure my placenta migrated. It's fine and Evan is doing great. We also saw the doctor and she said that Evan is measuring at 5 lbs and 10 oz and we still have two months to go. She said they can be off by a pound or two but that still makes him either almost 5 or 6 lbs. His measurements also indicate a due date of March 4th. But we'll see. He'll probably stay in there till the end. He seems pretty comfortable. He slept during the ultrasound. So since Evan is already so big we get to have another ultrasound in about a month to see if he's going to be a 10 lb baby. If he is the it sounds like I get a choice of a c-section or a normal delivery. But he's extremely healthy and that's all that we care about. Here's some new pictures of Evan! And Ray and I are having another shower on Sunday being thrown by his Mom and his aunt Laurie!

Week 32 Developments

See the big picture
How your baby's growing:
By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, he'll gain a third to half of his birth weight during the next 7 weeks as he fattens up for survival outside the womb. He now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). His skin is becoming soft and smooth as he plumps up in preparation for birth.

Week 31 Developments

See the big picture
How your baby's growing:
This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

Getting ready for Evan

Ray and I installed blinds and curtains in Evan's room today. I also bought him a ton of cute clothes over the weekend that are size 6-12 mo and I can mix and match them. I got two cute jacket and pants outfits too. So he'll have lots to wear. Ray and I also registered for a matching stroller/carseat combo and a travel crib and highchair. Evan will be living in style.
I had my first baby shower last weekend. All of the girls from Panera were there. They gave us lots of gifts cards and we got recieving blankets, a couple of really cute outfits, socks, and mittens. And I brought our new video camera and taped it. They also had a big cake with clouds and a little stork sitting on the cloud. It was a lot of fun. We have another one in a few weeks.

Oh and I found out some crazy news last week. My sister is pregnant and so is my cousin. So Evan will have a cousin and a second cousin by this summer!

Week 30 Developments

How your baby's growing:
Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. His eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after he's born, he'll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means he can only make out objects a few inches from his face.

Week 29 Developments

See the big picture
How your baby's growing:
Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day.

This are crochet blocks for a blanket I'm starting for Evan. Hopefully it will be done by the time he gets here.

Busy People

Ray and I are pretty busy this week. Our first Lamaze class is tomorrow night at the Hospital. We went with the 4wk childbirth class. It also includes a tour of the birthing floor so we'll know what to expect when we get ready to have the baby.
On Thursday we have another checkup with the doctor.
Then my family will be up on Saturday. And mom and Lins are going with me to my first baby shower which is being given by the girls I worked with at St. Louis Bread Co. So this week should be a lot of fun.

Week 28 Developments

See the big picture
How your baby's growing:
By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels. He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

Ray and I just wanted to say thank you for Evan's christmas gifts. Annabelle gave us an extremely cute and very thoughtful gift; matching pajamas for me and Evan. And Will outfitted little Evan with his very own blues outfit and Pearl Jam onesie. All of these were very thoughtful and greatly appreciated. Thank You!
