Baby, oh baby

Ray and I went garage sale-ing last weekend. We got a lot of neutral colored onesies and shirts for the baby. And we got a really good deal on an Evenflo stroller that collapses with one hand and has a huge storage space underneath. And a baby doppler so we can listen to the baby's heart beat. I also bought some maternity clothes. I got a nice pair of jeans from Motherhood in the mall and I found a woman on craigslist who was selling her maternity clothes really cheap. So I got a few pairs of jeans and a bunch of shirts from her.
I'm wearing a pair of maternity pants right now. I haven't worn them out of the house yet but they're so comfortable! I can still fit into my regular jeans but they're starting to get a little tight.
I still haven't had any morning sickness yet. I've been dizzy every morning this week though. However, I've worked out a routine that helps. I get up, make a quick breakfast, take it back to bed, watch tv with the sound really low so Ray can sleep an extra 15min and then shower. By the time I get out of the shower I feel fine.
Although it looks like burning through food faster. Even though I had a real meal this morning I had to eat my snack at work an hour earlier this morning cause I was starving.

Week 10 Developments

Although it's barely the size of a kumquat — a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby now has completed the most critical portion of it's development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in it's body rapidly grow and mature. If you could take a peek inside your womb, you'd spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.

Second doctor's visit

Not too much to report. I've gained 6 lbs and 2". Everything is going good. I'm not as tired as I was. The dogs and I even took a walk this morning.
We'll be going back in about a month, at 13wks, to hear the baby's heart beat. We don't find out if it's a boy or a girl until I'm about four months. So another month or so to go for all you impatient people out there.

Week 9 Developments

Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. It's starting to look more and more human. It's essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do it's tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks.

Belly Week 8

8/17/08 Sunday

Ray and I have our second appointment with the doctor on Thursday. The baby will be 9 wks by then so we're hoping to hear the baby's heart beat when we go. I'll make sure and post to let you know any news.
Also I want to thank Ted and Donna for their extremely generous gift. We greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Week 8 developments

Your baby is now 5/8 of an inch long, about the size of a kidney bean. New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, it's eyelids practically cover it's eyes, breathing tubes extend from it's throat to the branches of it's developing lungs, and it's "tail" is just about gone. It's arms have lengthened, too, and it's hands are now flexed at the wrist and meet over it's heart. It's knee joints have formed, and it's feet may be long enough to meet in front of it's body. In it's brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways.

9 months went by fast!

I went maternity shopping with my friend and they had a fake belly so I figured I see what I'll look like.

Week 7 Developments

The big news this week from BabyCenter.com: Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you're daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of its tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry.
