Aghhhhh the hunger!

The baby is making me eat like a horse! I eat all the time now. I can only go like an hour before I need another snack. I used to be able to eat like three meals and two snacks a day but now I get hungry at like 8:30p and I have to eat two fruit cups before the a baby's happy again. Last Saturday we went to a BBQ at 4p and I swear I ate like eight time before we went. And I had to have a snack on the way there. And if I don't time it right and eat lunch early on the days I'm off, I get shaky and it takes a while for the food to kick in and feel ok again.
But I'm so glad I'm pregnant! If I eat a lot and often I feel great. And my belly is starting to show. More people are finding out at work. One of the girls put her hand on my stomach and said she didn't feel anything. I thought it would be awhile before people started touching me but I guess I'll have to get used to it. I have 6 more months of it and the majority of it will probably be strangers.
I've been throwing a few names out to Ray and asking if he likes them but he always gives me the same answer, "no". He doesn't think we'll have a problem finding a name but I'm beginning to wonder.

Week 14 Developments

How your baby's growing:
This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck it's thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, it's facial muscles are getting a workout as it's tiny features form one expression after another. It's kidneys are producing urine, which it releases into the amniotic fluid around it — a process it will keep up until birth. It can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch it sucking it's thumb.

In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and it weighs 1 1/2 ounces. It's body's growing faster than it's head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, it's arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of it's body. (It's legs still have some lengthening to do.) It's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over it's body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and it's spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel it's tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

Week 13 Developments

Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, it's veins and organs are clearly visible through it's still-thin skin, and it's body is starting to catch up with it's head — which makes up just a third of it's body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce. As you start your second trimester, most of your baby's critical development will be completed.

Personal growth

So I've gained 1 1/2 - 2 inches in my belly, however I've actually lost a few pounds.
We went to the doctor today. Everything is going great. We heard the baby's heart beat. The doc said it was strong and had a good rate and she was able to find it right away.
Sorry for those of you who were hoping for twins but she said it sounds like there's only one person living in there.
We go back for another ck up on Oct. 16th. And then the big day will be about two weeks after when I'm 18 wks. We'll finally get to find out whether this tiny baby is a boy or a girl!
Make sure you click on the heart beat button below.

Week 12 Developments

How your baby's growing:
The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, its toes will curl, its eye muscles will clench, and its mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. Its intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into its abdominal cavity about now, and its kidneys will begin excreting urine into its bladder.

Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. its face looks unquestionably human: its eyes have moved from the sides to the front of its head, and its ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

Belly Week 11

Bellies, bellies, and more bellies

I'm wearing one of my maternity outfits to dinner tonight. I don't want to, but my old pants are a bit too snug and I guess I have to embrace the belly eventually. So I'm wearing a nice red fitted shirt and jeans. I look pretty good if I do say so myself.

Week 11 Developments

Your pregnancy: 11 weeks

How your baby's growing:

Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Its hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under its gums, and some of its bones are beginning to harden.
It's already busy kicking and stretching, and its tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as its body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccupping that may be happening now that its diaphragm is forming.
